First, thank you SO MUCH to
raspberry_splat and
castalianspring for the teddy bears. A much needed boost of love and I hug you a very much lot for it.
Second, I appear to be headed into a depressive downswing again, which...sucks. From a practical online perspective it means my focus is pretty scattered right now and I have more difficulty with things like comments than usual. I'm doing my best not to isolate, but, y'know here we go. Fingers crossed this dip evens out quickly.
Watched Time Traveller's Wife last night and then immediately went and got the book to read, which I hadn't yet. I am fascinated by this story, y'all. But, Eunice, I can hear you saying...you hate the very concept of soulmates. Yes, yes I do. Which is why I can't look away from this. It is the logical conclusion of the 'soulmate' argument laid bare and it's horrifying. I mean, maybe I'm supposed to see it as a touching love story and not an utter tragedy that traps two people in a circular loop that removes even a semblance of choice or free will. But, wow, I kind of want to use it as a point by point demonstration in the Why Soulmates Are Bad argument. I do find the romance in it compelling, precisely because if there is no other choice, then finding what happiness you can within those bounds is all that's left, no matter how dysfunctional (and boy, howdy, is it dysfunctional). I would not put my worst enemy in the position these two characters are trapped in, which makes them both deeply sympathetic to me.
And...that's all for now. *hugs to everyone*
