Being Erica, YAY!!!

Okay, so I have a pretty long list of shows to check out. And despite having several on the list ahead of Being Erica, it was the one that sounded most appealing today. So I just finished the pilot and OMG you guys, I am a little bit in love with Erica Strange. She is so delightfully and adorably messed up. I have a weakness anyway for 'if you could go back and change things' stories, and this one seems to have the potential to be particularly satisfying if it keeps on this track.

Yes, I think I know what I'm doing this evening. Ignoring everything else I should probably be doing and marathoning more of this show. Also, one episode in and I already know I want to vid Erica at some point.

<3 <3 <3 new distraction type show.

Special thank you to [personal profile] serrico for talking up this series so much and putting it on my radar and list in the first place where I may never have heard of it. Awesome! :D :D

They lucked out *massively* with Erin Karpluk. She's *so* good at being the Everywoman--and, simpler than that, she's *so* good at being, as you said, *engaging*; I'm really not sure the show would work as well as it does without her.

The revisiting old regrets being about taking control of your choices *now* is just very, very pleasing.

*nod* They made a conscious decision not to make the time travel the mechanism for change; it's a mechanism for enlightenment and for self-awareness (which sounds incredibly wavy-gravy, but you've seen the show, you know what I mean *g*), but the time travel *in and of itself* actually does nothing. Which lets them tell some very interesting stories! *is nonspoilery*

Now I'm waiting for you to get to certain episodes. Hee. :)
