I thought about that! With the Rory and River talking in the basement; I thought it was a good and affecting scene at the time, but now it makes sense. And is all subtexty; River's talking to one person who she knows who doesn't know her about another! I see what it did there!
Until the next big plot twist, the Doctor has a family after a fashion, which is ... odd and novel, for him! I think I like it.
