Aww, I totally don't mind the shoehorning here. This is fun!

Horizon Zero Dawn is one of my favorite games ever. Having just finished Breath of the Wild recently which was almost across the board GOTY the same year HZD came out, I personally would place HZD over BOTW. I did like BOTW but I didn't have the same intense feelings with the characters.

I'm excited to make my way through HFW now.

I also hugely adored BOTW, and it was a really restful one to start over with a fresh playthrough, until my controller developed terminal stick-drift on one side and I stopped playing until I could get a repair or replacement.

But I love them in such different ways! I got attached to Eloy and her context and emotions and life as a person, in ways I totally didn't with Link, even with the flashbacks to the various Champions. So my BOTW enjoyment was much more about the sense of openness and freedom, creativity/weirdness in the game mechanics, puzzle solving, etc., and not about people and feelings.

I think out of my various playthroughs I might only technically have "finished" BOTW, i.e. defeated Ganon, once. Maaaaybe twice. Because that is not actually what I play the game for, and it's not the funnest boss battle... I like the Divine Beasts, because puzzles, and those bosses are the price I pay for the puzzle-dungeon vibe. But Ganon is just basically, 'can I find my way through the confusing castle' (spoiler: not well! the change to that 3-D map throws me off big time!) and then 'fighty fighty fight' the end. Well, then the second part with riding the horse, which I scarcely remember. :D

Instead, I like to start over and run around in my underwears, and when I'm extremely advanced and have all the divine beasts on my side, and could theoretically fight ganon, instead I throw myself into the DLCs, and also into obsessive completionist things like finding more korok seeds.
