Doctor Who 6x08 Let's Kill Hitler
I have seen! New internet may be slower than I'm used to but I'm nothing if not persistent. Reaction under the cut,
To get this out of the way, my reaction to River giving up all her regenerations for the Doctor is kinda wtfever, however life is way too short for me to die on that hill when there is so much else I love. And, there's actually stuff I love about that too, namely that it is in rescuing her parents River comes home to the TARDIS and begins to see who she could be, and that she breaks free of her conditioning (at least for now) in an act of sacrifice. My squee would probably be entirely unqualifed about it were it not all the regenerations. So. Last I'm gonna dwell on it at all.
Moving on, holy CRAP there was a lot in that episode. A LOT. I'm still kind of overwhelmed by it. And amused as hell that I pretty much started shipping Doctor/Mels hardcore the second she arrived on scene screeching up in the sports car, backed him into a corner, declared him hot, and pulled a gun on him. AND SO ARE YOU WITH THE HOTNESS MELS/RIVER. I kind of adore that the reveal that she was River made so much sense that my reaction was not so much OMG IT IS RIVER as, 'oooooh, of course it's River'
Further note, the 'I kill you now, no you don't' dance? Oh my god so fucking hot.
BABY PONDS!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 If I could be more coherent than <3 <3 <3 I would be, but OMG BABY PONDS!!! And Rory/Amy broke me. They broke me, okay. I do not OTP. I never OTP. Except them. Because Rory having only eyes for Amy all growing up, and the look on her face when she realized it? This is Eunice, dead on the floor of squee drawing little sparkly hearts around them FOREVER, OKAY?
Wait, there was stuffs that happened! Lots of stuff, and not just Rory punching Hitler and locking him in a cupboard (<3 <3 <3). Only most of it makes my head spin, and I suck at speculation so I'm not even going to try to guess how it all shakes out...so I'm just gonna sit here with my head spinny and remain deeply in love with Team TARDIS.
Oh! Except one more thing...Eleventy sees Rose/Martha/Donna and his reaction is guilt. Because he knows, because he's aware, and I continue to love him because he does. And even though things have got fucked up in various ways with Amy and Rory along the way, he's trying and more importantly...I dunno, with Ten it always kind of felt like whatever happened to his companions was all about how it hurt him, and although it does hurt Eleventy his focus is...I dunno...more outward? Less selfish? And weirdly making me feel much more forgiving of Ten than I used to be that he was in that horribly dark place that didn't really allow him to look beyond his own pain for so long. I mean, that moment specifically when Eleven saw the images of them and his reaction makes me more forgiving. I think I needed that. I dunno, I'm rambling. tl;dr version: <3 <3 <3 <3 ELEVENTEEEEEEEEE

OH MY GOD SO MUCH THIS. Like, that bit--played for laughs though it was--showed us unequivocally that he knows he screwed up with each of them, and is living with it, and--moreover--has *learned* from it, and is applying what he's learned to his time with Amy and Rory. And that was something I had given up on getting since the end of Ten, but am SO HAPPY TO HAVE.
