Hauling out the megaphone via
sherrold for the Army of Women joint project between the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation and the Avon Foundation, a massive research thingummy involving both healthy women and women who have/had breast cancer. Please to be reading what
sherrold has to say about it here.
Y'all, you know I have, shall we say, issues with the current breast cancer awareness culture and it's stupid useless pink ribbons. But this? This is fucking cool. This is doing something, namely creating a broad and varied data set for scientists and researchers to really dig into the problem, and providing an active step you can take to help that has jack shit to do with buying yogurt to pay for the cost of printing more pink ribbons on labels for more yogurt in the name of 'awareness'. This is about prevention and cause. Hell. To. The. Motherfucking. Yeah.
Sign up. One of the reasons I chose to enroll in a clinical trial during my treatment is because that's how we learn. How we make progress and discoveries. It was disheartening then to learn how few people participate in clinical trials and in various research studies. Shoot, it took staring down the barrel of a cancer gun for me to do it. But you don't have to wait. And it sounds like the variety of studies being done means your participation could be as easy as answering some questions, even if you're not comfortable giving blood or whatever.
Think about this for a sec. A million data points across coordinated studies. What could we find out? What answers are hiding right in front of our faces? And are you part of those answers? You could be.
