I haven't updated in awhile...basically my brain is on one if it's regularly scheduled meltdowns, which sucks a lot, but I don't want to talk about that.

Anyway, when in brain funk I tend to watch tons of stuff. I have actually been trying to get into Person of Interest since I saw one of the early drafts of Lum's vid, but the first part of season 1 was kind of a slog for me? Mostly because I was kind of meh on Reese.

But then. Then. Get Carter happened. See. Carter is my favorite. I kind of love her beyond reason and would watch an entire show just about her (she is the big reason I made it through the early part of the season, despite not quite feeling the show overall yet). So when Get Carter happened and there was suddenly an entire hour focused basically on what strong regard Reese has for her and how high a respect and depth of feeling and the lengths he was willing to go? Yeah. We bonded. We bonded hard and actually kind of became show besties despite our rocky start. Also, I ship it. Kind of a lot. Which is, I think, shipping heresy in PoI fandom? Just, I get the appeal of Reese/Finch, I really do. But it doesn't really hit my emotional buttons, where Carter/Reese kind of punches those buttons in the face.

So yes, I might be doing it wrong, but consider me one of the fallen regarding this show. :) I'm up to episode 20 of season 1 now, and I suspect I will be caught up fairly soon because I'm in obsessive marathon mode. :D

I am trying to become one of the fallen for this show. I've seen the first episode, and the past three (?) new episodes, and nothing's pinging so far. But I love both Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson, so I shall keep trying. If nothing else, it makes a good lead-in to Elementary. I have the feeling I'm missing a lot of the build-up, so that may be the problem.

Jumping in to say - as someone who has fallen recently and fallen hard, I would not expect those episodes to be particularly tempting. Most people aren't impressed by the Pilot (although when I watch it now, knowing what I know, I like it a lot more), and the last 3 new eps didn't really showcase things very well. Two rather mediocre casefiles-of-the-week and one unusual episode that focused entirely on a new character - fun for fans but not a great introduction for nonfans. The show actually gets increasingly better after the Pilot and throughout the first season, and really gets going at the end of S1 and early S2, and then has another incredible arc mid S2.

So, basically, a combination of a slow starter and cumulative effect. I can work with that!

Yes! Cummylative effect is a great way to describe it. For me it kinda snuck up on me after that slow start, but the payoffs (both character and plotwise) are really worth watching in order from the beginning. :)

I'm fairly used to slow starts thanks to Japanese drama, so I shall keep watching -- in order now! :D

I totally get the Reese/Finch, the two of them together are pretty amazing and super slashy. I'm not sure why they mostly only push my BFF buttons, but I could watch them Fight Crime Together forever :D :D

Carter is AWESOME. I adore her! This show is all about these two guys and then they sneak such wonderful women into the mix.

Person of Interest crept up on me, too. Reese cracks me up with the joking in his intense voice. And Finch, I just adore all of him. And Fusco and Carter: <3 <3

Now that I'm (mostly: missing eps 3-8 of season two) caught up, I want fic. I avoided it until now.
