What's that? It is SQUEEEEEEE OMG. I would just like to point out first that it is mildly distracting when you would pretty much jump every single main character on screen at any given time. It is also distracting to be a dedicated multi-shipper in an episode such as this because there's just no way it doesn't end in an orgy in one's head. Er, except for Doctor/Jenny. I see the appeal, but my incest squick objects. In my head Jenny and the Doctor will just have to make do with Donna or Martha. Or Donna and Martha. Or Donna and Martha can have at it while they take pictures? I swear my mind was not this dirty before fandom. Right then, moving on.

Jenny is adorable. And yay for Doctor parental trauma! Had it ended any different I'd probably be a total wreck (and I was working myself up to it when she 'died'), but as it is, she's off for adventures in the universe...a little piece of hope for the future of the Time Lords and that is just awesome. Not to mention it got the Doctor to talk about his emo, not just the loss of his family or his people, but also the war itself, which is always good for him. Especially when he talks about it with people willing to point out there is life beyond grief. How much do I love Donna for "I think you're wrong." I love her a LOT. The more he works through this, even when there is loss, the more he means it when he says 'there's always something to live for' *big squishy hugs for my Doctor*

How awesome is Donna? So awesome I can hardly stand it. Figuring out the numbers! 'Her name is Martha'! Continuing to pull up the Doctor while having his back all the way! I *heart* her so much. There is something immensly satisfying about this Team Tardis, a sense that whatever is coming...and I'm sure it will be painful as hell...it will be okay. Okay, not because everyone will live happily ever after, that isn't going to happen. Not on this show. But okay because you get through it and what makes it worth it is the journey. I see the Doctor so much more grounded in that, in his faith in that this season. It is a joy to watch that unfold with Donna. It really, really is.

I think it still makes me sad that Martha couldn't have that. She had to hold him together when he couldn't get there himself, and he trusted her to do it. That's never not going to hit a lot of my kinks hard in terms of their partnership. He wouldn't be where he is without her, without the hard lesson of knowing what it cost her, and what it cost him to get there. And the very nature of that means she won't ever experience travel in the TARDIS in quite the same way. We saw that here. Pain and loss and death come with the package for everyone, but I think for Martha things got flipped. They pain isn't the bits in between the adventure, but the adventure is the bits in between the pain. It doesn't make me sad what she's forged out of that. The life she's grabbed on to, the adventure she's made for herself on her own terms, as her own Doctor. And the strength of her bond with the Doctor because of it, and clearly it is strong, that makes me happy. Martha is amazing. And I love her.

Randomly shallow 'shipper thought, if complete strangers keep mistaking the Doctor and Donna for a couple, I can hardly be blamed, now can I? I shall simply point at the screen and indulge my inner five year old by hollering THEY STARTED IT. ahem.

Oh, plot...right. I really am a horrible narrative viewer, because I tend to view plot as the thing that happens to provoke character stuff and as long as there is running about and shiny things and goofy bad science and occasionally things blow up, I'm good. Ridicoulsly easy to please, in fact. Consider me pleased.

Damn, that felt good. I may have to watch another one now.
