It is severely annoying me that my first solid vid idea for TSCC is a John Connor vid. I wanted it to be Sarah dammit. Part of the issue here is that while I can use movie footage of all growed up battlescarred John, and young John (it's a bit of a stretch but T2 John and TSCC John can be marked as the same person in a vid with the age difference, I think), there is no real way to use Sarah from the movies and Sarah from TSCC in the same vid. And there just isn't enough yet from the series to formulate a solid vid concept from a visual perspective for her. But I can frame out a John vid in my head, assuming the series footage complies with my ideas in the upcoming months, because I've just got more to work with right now visually. Air faster show, air faster so I can get a handle on new Sarah vidwise.

Since I can't actually start working on either until I get more series anyway, I'm hoping the Sarah ideas start kicking in harder soon, because that's the vid I really want to make. I had a vague idea for a movie only Sarah Connor vid last year, but it never gelled with a song...though I may revisit that, because it is possible to make a movie Sarah vid and a tv Sarah vid separately and have them work as belonging to the same timeline and universe. It's just that getting the imagery to work together in the same vid...I can't see it. Harumph.

How do I still not have any Sarah Connor icons? I am the very definition of lame.

I'm not doing the new to me vidwatching challenge, but I feel really bad about it...so I kind of want to explain. Vid watching has become...tricky for me. As a general rule I don't watch vids in fandoms I am either currently vidding or have vid plans for. Exceptions are at Vividcon or if something is highly recc'd that is far enough in concept from anything I'm likely to do that it's not going to cause me to stall out in despair over mine. Not stalling out is a big thing for me vidwise, and watching vids in my active fandom is the quickest way to end up there. And then there are stretches of time where watching any vid, in any fandom, especially good ones, is going to do the same thing. It's insecurity, plain and simple. Vid watching when I'm feeling particularly low about my own abilities is not an enjoyable experience, it's one fraught with jealousy and frustration and big heapings of beating myself up. So I don't do it.

But I feel horrible about it because supporting my fellow vidders and the vid community is important. Not to mention one of the best ways to learn and grow as a vidder is to, y'know, watch vids as a way of picking up techniques and ideas and stretching the way you think about vids and vidding. Also, when not in the throes of obnoxiously self-pitying despair, vid watching is fun. I love vids. So during those periods of time when I'm feeling pretty solid, I do try to catch up some and go on vid watching binges (which lead to very little feedback from me on account of I'm watching piles of them at once). And, of course, there's Vividcon which is a solid stretch of nothing but watching and talking about vids for me that lasts the whole surrounding period of time and not just the con itself. It's just...there are more stretches where I'm not watching vids than I am during the rest of the year.

And it's not you, it's me. There. I have confessed. Chances are if I'm not watching your vids, that's the reason why.

*twiddles thumbs and waits for torrents to go up*

Right, so I don't go all insane waiting and being all jealous of the cut tags indicating that those of you who are British can watch Torchwood before me because you are hateful, awful people....I need distraction. Therefore I ask you a very important question. What do you reckon Ianto has on his iPod? Which playlist does he listen to most? The iPod habits of any other TW team member is also welcome, it's just that I'm most curious as to what Ianto has.

*hits refresh on several sites and twiddles thumbs more*
