The best chemo tip I have ever read on the internets is the use of a sticky roller for hair loss. Yes, like the kind you use for lint or pet hair. You wouldn't think hair loss would be an issue for me on account of I've been voluntarily shaving my head for two years. And, psychologically it's not. But stubble is still hair, and it still falls out. Which leaves one with a rather mangy looking, patchy, stubble head, and sore spots on the scalp from dying hair follicles...not to mention the little piles of stubble one starts to leave behind everywhere like a shedding cat. Breaking out the serious razors to go for clean shaven might be your first instinct, and mine, but while it may address the mange look issue, it does nothing to address the sore scalp where the follicle is dying but the hair hasn't had the decency to just fall out from the root all ready.
This is where my hero, the sticky roller, comes into play. Run that sucker over your head and off it all comes. My head feels amazing, I've stopped shedding, and not a sore spot is left anywhere. Plus there is the added bonus of the giggles that set in when it hits you that you have just spent the last fifteen minutes running a sticky roller over your head. Yes, it looks as ridiculous as you think, and it's awesome.
Added bonus of awesome was the purchase of said sticky roller, because the cashier at Petsmart decided to go for the hard sell on the more expensive types of pet hair removal thingies and would not take no for an answer, continuing to push and push and push for a sale. vagabondage, who rules, got fed up and finally went, 'It's not for pet hair, it's for her CANCER' and I started chiming in about my chemo and hair loss, while pushy sales clerk tried to backtrack and looked like she wanted to crawl under her register and die, and we continued to tell her all about the CANCER, and she couldn't get us checked out of there soon enough. Does it make me a bad person that on the way out is the hardest I've laughed in weeks? I don't care if it does. Shit was funny as hell.
