Still riding the Chopped high, because that was so awesome. Except now I want a fannish version of Chopped. Because it would amuse the hell out of me. Imagine this with me:

Vidders, for the appetizer round your 30 second vidlet must include: The movie Return of the Swamp Thing, the clock wipe transition, the color purple, and the song One Eyed Flying Purple People Eater.

You could do it for fic too, or meta, or fanart! The possibilities are endless potential for hilarity.

Fannish Chopped!!!

Okay, yes. I actually want to do this. But I can't do it on my own so I am sending up a test flag to see if any of y'all would be interested in helping me put it together (especially the non-vidding rounds). If you would consider doing this, and be willing to volunteer for any of the following, please tell me so I can gauge if this is feasible.

What I am thinking is a month long Fannish Chopped event with a week for each category (vids, fic, art, meta). This would actually require a fairly limited time commitment, since the whole point is quick and dirty, so for any given category you're only committing a few days of your time. Edit: The exact time frame of this shindig would depend on working around the schedules of those willing to do it. Edit the second: celli has volunteered to host the fic category, so that's one more down and we know for sure this thing will be after tax season. :D Each category would need the following:

Host: The host would be responsible for coming up with the 'basket' ingredients (see my previous post for a hasty example of a vidding basket) and time frame/limitations for each round, ex: 24 hours for appetizer (30 seconds but no longer than 1 minute vidlet), 48 for entree (minimum one minute length), 48 for dessert (minimum one minute and must include dessert like qualities like fluffy or sweet or bittersweet or be candy colored, whatever) is what I'm thinking for the vidding round right now. The host will also make the announcement posts and introduce the contestants for their category. Need hosts for fic, art, and meta 'cause I totes wanna host vidding.

Judges: Judges will evaluate each round awarding points for: creative use of basket ingredients, technical execution, entertainment value. Three judges needed for each category. I've already bullied Luminosity into being one of the vidding judges, so pretty much...need two more vid judges, and three each for fic, art, and meta.

Contestants: Four for each category. Each round you will be given a 'basket' of 'ingredients' and a time limit to produce your vid/fic/art/meta for each round. The highest scores move on to the next round, with the bottom score being chopped, until we are left with a final two competing in the dessert round. Any source material required for the rounds will be a) provided for you, and b) be no longer than two hours for easy watching. You may use as much or as little of the 'ingredients' as you want as long as they are present and in any way you choose. You may also use anything else from the fannish pantry you want in addition. Example: the source Gidget is one of your ingredients...you could use the just the wave/ocean shots in a Point Break vidlet, or write a Buffy crossover with Gidget making a cameo appearance.
