So, vidding continues...though slowly because I keep running into spasms of vidder insecurity that cause me to go run for the safety of food network and mythbusters marathons and whatnot.
Anyway. In case it wasn't clear in my last post I am, shall we say, a wee bit overprotective of Harry. And really, a lot of that comes down to the fact that my kid was 10 when we started reading the books together and that he is, while a few years younger, in the same general age group as the actors in the films. The books and movies are inextricably intertwined in my head with his growing up.
And a major factor in why I could never do HP fandom. The rational part of my brain has absolutely no issues at all with the idea that teenagers can be pretty to look at and that many of them have the sex. That fandom loves to ship and has a healthy admiration for how nicely the kids grew up...it's fine! Except I cannot disengage the 'mom' part of my head that is like DO NOT WANT. 'Cause the series, for me, is as much about watching my own son grow up as it is the characters, and...well, you see the problem with integrating that with fandom.
Anyway, aside from that...just. You guys have met me, right? Then you know that coming of age stories in general are like my kryptonite. And so pretty much re-reading and re-watching this whole series in a concentrated dose for vidding purposes has reduced me to a PUDDLE OF INCOHERENT FLAILING GOO.
Also, randomly but related, I joined Pottermore and got sorted into Hufflepuff. And then I did a little fist pump and chair dance because Hufflepuff REPRESENT. I was always kind of confused by its reputation in the books on account of it always sounded like the house I'd most like to be in if Hogwarts were real, so that sorting was quite gleeful.
