Wow, I just had a serious out of body, oh my god I'm getting old experience.

See, I have insomnia so I'm catching up on shit my DVR has recorded and among the shows is Secret Circle (don't judge), the new CW show about witches. Now, the fact that it's a show about teenagers is not what made me feel old. It's been a long time since I was a teenager, and I like coming of age stories so I've dealt with that.

No. It was the moment the main character pulled her mother's dusty old yearbook out of a closet. And it was labeled 1995. This was the point it smacked me in the face that I'm older than the parents on the show.

I missed that because I was half watching and half playing WoW on my other monitor, but now I feel old, too. Offspring v2.0 is about the age of the SC kids, and I graduated in 1987, so I'm guessing they all had their kids right after high school. I'm not entirely convinced TPTB understand how pregnancy works, in fact, seeing as they're all supposed to be at least 16 (see: main character driving in the pilot) and 1995 to 2011 is exactly 16 years, so apparently all the mothers were knocked up during their last year in high school....

I started doing math in my head, because my sister is class of '92 and she only has a 7 year old! I think it's a side effect of casting young(ish) actors as the parents. Post-Gilmore Girls, shows don't even seem to bother explaining that they (ALL?) had kids young.
