I have been putting on old episodes of SG-1 while I treadmill, on account of it's been long enough since I've seen them that they feel newish enough to distract me, but familiar enough that during those moments when I want to die and can focus on nothing but one foot in front of the other I don't feel like I'm missing anything. And just...holy crap, y'all. I forgot just how much I love both Jack O'Neill and Sam Carter. SO MUCH. I can't decide which one I love more, though I think Jack has the edge, if only for the dead baby backstory. Still OT3ing Sam/Jack/Daniel.

Also, the thing about doing a structured eating plan? I feel like I am eating ALL THE TIME. Three actual meals a day, plus at least two snacks and it seriously feels like so much food. It's weird because I thought when I started that staying within the calorie goals would be difficult, but instead I'm scrambling to catch up at the end of the day diving for extra apples or whatever to push it up to where it needs to be. Basically I am relearning how to eat. I really didn't realize how much it mattered, eating enough food, spaced through the day. It helps with motivation that the couple days that I didn't do it and fell back on old habits (not eating during the day, slamming down lots of food at night) I felt like utter crap. I've never been a breakfast person (except at Vividcon where breakfast is a social thing for me, so I end up eating), so forcing myself to eat in the morning is still kinda rough, but I'm getting used to it.

OMG LOVE. I heart that OT3 so much.

We once had a professional nutritionist temping at my office, and she was explaining about how the body works, especially with carbs. If you cut stuff out of your diet, when you finally eat some of it, your body goes "I hardly ever get this so I will store it in case I don't get any more for a while!" If you eat sensible amounts regularly, your body goes "I know there is more coming so I will burn this for energy." Which is why eating reasonable amounts often is effective. But I hear ya on the breakfast issue. I'm never able to manage more than toast and tea before midday.
