I don't really post about politics much in this LJ. That's because over the past 8 years I've become cynical, bitter, jaded, and so fed up that on my most optimistic days I pretty much believe that the best we Americans can hope for is a band aid on a gaping wound. Change and hope and real progress? I tend to think snowballs in hell have a better chance.
But then sometimes, when I hear Barack Obama speak, I think 'Y'know, that snowball just might be flame retardant'
It's not much...I'd be lying if I said I really believed. That I don't think a melted snowball is the far more likely scenario, regardless of the outcome of the election. But it's more than I had. I love Obama a little for that. I really do.
