Alrighty, sitting here with my cup of coffee and the VVC discs ready to watch and comment. I'm doing the whole shebang this year, split up by disc. Given that my brain is a mushy toxic mess I'm not sure how coherent it will be, but I'm not ready to be done talking about vids yet this year, so here we go. Links (where available) to the vids can be found here

Intro (Star Trek in 60 Seconds) by Lithium Doll: HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Metaphor (Multi) by Speranza, Seah & Margie: *sporfle* Chicks do indeed D-I-G metaphors and this vid is tons of fun.

Sea Fever (Slings & Arrows) by here's luck: Oh god, so beautiful. I wish I had better words for what this does to me, because it hits this deep emotional well in this way that...*flaily hands*. The quiet intensity of it gives me goosebumps from the first clips and just builds to that final shot of the folding chair and I am weeping. Love.

Fight The Power (Tropic Thunder/other) by Deejay: Love the movie, but I find the vid far less successful. There are some funny moments, but I found even those fell flat on second watch here at home.

All Apologies (Twilight) by Cappy: If you have met me, then you know that earnest ridiculousness is one of my favorite things ever, and I both giggled my ass off and went 'awwww'. And then sisabet and cappy made me actually watch Twilight post con, and now the earnestness and ridiculous are even BETTER. My favorite bit (aside from the deeply pained faces) is when he literally sparkles 'in the sun'. *snicker*

Grown So Ugly (Angel, Buffy) by Acridnym: Angel is a crap boyfriend whatever side of the coin you're on, *nodnod*. Although I do love him, I certainly can't disagree there. I found some of the cutting/timing and the black space distracting and hard on the eyes, but I love the song and the concept.

We Are (TSCC) by dragonchic: Gorgeously constructed and really smart, it worked better for me in a con environment than at home. It's a really good vid, no question, and I like it a lot, I just sort of want it to...rest a bit more in spots? There are emotional beats that feel like they miss for me because there isn't enough time for the gut-punch to really settle.

Cassandra (Merlin) by hellpenguin: Interesting concept, but the execution fell short for me.

Hard Sun (Firefly, Us) by bradcpu and laura shapiro: I showed this to a friend of mine who's comment was 'Wow, that doesn't just break the fourth wall, it creates it's own dimension' and I'm going to steal it because YES. That's what this vid, and fandom does. I'm more than a little in love with this vid, and not nearly smart enough to discuss it. I'm particularly enamored of the way we don't see the faces of the fans in the external footage and how effectively that drew me into the vid, and how much I felt like, yes...this is me walking in those shoes and I know this, even though I was never deeply fannish about Firefly itself(and yet it is the perfect fandom for this story). I'm babbling aren't I? I am. See: not smart enough. So I'll just draw pink sparkly hearts around it.

See The USA In Your Chevrolet (Supernatural) by Carol S: *sporfle* I have one word: AWESOME.

Pretty When You Cry (Dollhouse)by diannelamerc: Creepy and disturbing, the most effective part of the vid for me is the 'didn't want to fuck you' bit with the knife (*shudder*). The borders do kind of confuse me.

Mad About You (Mad Men) by gwyneth: Oh god, ouch. This vid hurts, and has actually successfully managed to pimp me into giving Mad Men another try (I only watched the first few episodes), because if this is what the show is doing in terms of exploring what it meant to be a woman and perform femininity in this era, then I really need to see it. Did I say ouch? OUCH.

Learn To Crawl (BSG) by jarrow: I'm afraid my comments are going to be shallow as a puddle. Because dear god this vid is HOT. I mean, I see where it's all tragic (tragically HOT)and a fascinating exploration of this relationship, and John is brilliant, and I feel bad for drooling all over it when there's flames and angst and death and whatnot, but OH MY GOD IT IS SO HOT. Ahem.

Sleeping With Ghosts (Star Trek) by butterfly: Okay, so I am deeply allergic to the entire concept of soulmates, and so yeah, this vid could not be less for me if it tried, which is my issue and one that makes it inaccessible to me.

It Comes And Goes In Waves (Varg Veum movies) by M'lyn and Jo: My goodness, that's a lot of corpses. Well made, and I enjoyed it as a vid but it's not a source I think I'll be seeking out for myself (Zen really wants to see it now though, so I may end up watching it by default).

Turn Around (Bones) by Lizbetann: Cute and gross, hee. I'd have liked it to be shorter by a verse and tightened up a bit, but fun.

Marble House (Doctor Who) by hollywoodgrrl: Holy crap. Brilliant. No, really...brilliant. I find myself at a loss to talk about this one because while it blew me the hell away, I feel like a bear of very little brain trying to explain why. Please seek out way smarter people than me for commentary after you watch it (and YOU SHOULD WATCH IT). I'll be busy wordlessly flailing over here.

Video Killed The Radio Star (Wizard of Oz) by dualbunny: Not only is it wickedly (heh) smart, this one is like visual candy...so PRETTY OMG. And fun. And I'm totally on the witch's side now, so you know.

American Tune (West Wing) by greensilver: I'm not sure I can even type this out without bursting into tears. My favorite vid of the con. I haven't even watched TWW since season 2 and I am so incredibly moved by this vid I can't even...*chokes up again*. Start to finish there isn't a false move for me, it's just...OH GOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH. NOW PASS ME THE TISSUES.

Make Your Own Kind Of Music (Multi) by barkley: Awwwwwwww, it's a fandom HUG in vid form. *squishes it* I love you toooooo.
