fan_eunice: (vidding is HARD)

I am officially calling the grand experiment in working with m2v files over. It means I have to spend my day converting to DV and starting over (again), but that's got to be less frustrating in the long term. As of right now, there are just too many difficulties, the crashing being the biggest dealbreaker, but not even close to the only one. DV may have problems and not be as pretty but at least I can actually get to the vid with it. I'll probably try messing with m2v more in a non-vid situation to see if I can't figure out how to use them without killing my computer and driving me to drink, but for now....yeah, off the table for active vids.

I also have a theory. Since I used up all my existential vid angst for this vid way back when I made most of it and then trashed it in a fit of tears, I'm feeling remarkably zen about the actual vid process on it. I am starting to suspect that the massive tech problems are the universe's way of balancing that by providing something to tear my hair out over.

Any Mac users who manage (or have managed) to successfully complete a pretty, pretty vid with the extra shinies using m2v, or are trying to, I'd love advice or brainstorming for the future. Actually, what I'd really love is our own version of avisynth. And a pony.

The child and I watched Galaxy Quest (um, again) while I was there and I really just never get tired of that movie. Every time I have a different favorite moment, this time around it's when the kid is going on about how he knows it's just a show and then he gets interrupted and told it's real and his reaction is an excited "I *knew* it!" without missing a blink. 'Cause, okay, I am well aware of the differences between fiction and reality. Really, I am. My rational brain acknowledges that none of these fictional worlds I spend so much time in are real for real. And yet? I know that if the Doctor were to show up on my doorstep tomorrow, or I stumbled into an alley where Buffy was dusting a vampire, or the existence of a Stargate on Earth was revealed to me, or...well you get the picture...if any of those things happened, right before the rest of my brain kicked in and went "Wait, what?!?!?" the first thing that would instinctively come blurting out of my mouth would be "I KNEW IT!" I would totally be that kid in that moment.

It is possible I need my medications adjusted.
