fan_eunice: (vidding is HARD)

I fear I will never catch up on LJ, either reading the f'list, or making the posts I've been meaning to make. So I'm going to stop trying to catch up, which keeps leaving me further and further behind, and just go from today on. If I missed anything important in the last month between the crazy and the trip please accept my hugs, congratulations, condolences, snickering, supportive cheerleading, rants and flames, silly dances, or me toos as appropriate. I totally love you guys.

I am debating vidding today. To what I'm sure is absolutely no one's surprise, I am yet again going through an exciting phase of Isuckitis, this time centered around being able to start vids that never go anywhere at all. Aside from the brief burst of creativity that allowed me to knock out the Hard Core Logo vid in four days (did I really do that? how in the hell did I do that?), my entire vid experience since the auction vid has been to get excited about some vid idea or another, throw down a bunch of clips and then...nothing. Just, nothing. The pile of unfinished vids is rapidly growing with nothing to show for it. So I start avoiding opening FCP at all.

I know that the only way through this is to just pick one and make myself finish it (even if it turns out crap), because I tend to work well off momentum and if I finish one the odds of another one getting finished behind it go way up. Sadly, I lack self-discipline to a frightening degree. It is so much easier to procrastinate. The pile of boxes in my living room from the move that remain unpacked, now closing in on six months after the move, stand as a monument to this flaw. Hrmf.

Okay, you guys pick for me. The two vids in the pile that have the highest level of interest in my brain are the Durham County one (dark and twisted, only a few clips on the timeline so far, and the song still needs to be edited down, but it is freshest in my brain and it's got Hugh), and the Galaxy Quest vid (silly fluffy fun that should be a gimme vid, and has a great deal more of the timeline filled in, but is not because I managed to back myself into some structural problems that require ripping up a big chunk of what I've already done).
