BOOBIES!

I'm up early, but I fell asleep early too so it's still a win in the sleep department. And while I am up early I have a question for all of you.

Have you felt yourself up recently? If there is any lesson I have taken away from the last week and a half it is this. If you are not doing your monthly self breast exams, YOU NEED TO BE. No, seriously, you really need to. Here is a fun fact for you, one of the primary characteristics of a suspicious lump that needs further investigation is that it doesn't hurt. This means that if you aren't specifically looking for it, chances are you won't find it. Here's another fun fact, the more serious conditions such a lump may represent are often entirely asymptomatic in the early stages. This means by the time your body alerts you in other ways that Something is Wrong, the shit has probably already hit the fan.

This ain't no joke, kids, and there's a reason your doctor, and all those pamphlets, and PSAs are begging you to get friendly with your tits. Do so. And don't forget to include your armpits. Do it every month. Every month. The more familiar you are with what your excellent boobage is supposed to feel like, the more likely you are to pick up on any changes, no matter how subtle. Write it on a calendar. Get a buddy to remind you. I don't care. Just do it. Please. Please.

No consult with surgeon today, they just called and cancelled since he is going to be in surgery. So the new plan is that they will be doing both the consult and the biopsy on Thursday. That's going to be a long day. Meanwhile I twiddle my thumbs and consider sending the universe a very strongly worded letter that it would be VERY RUDE to give me cancer for my birthday. I would much prefer a nice card. Maybe some balloons.
