So, I was totally planning to drive straight through. This was before I remembered I am no longer in my twenties, have multiple joints and limbs that hate me, and also 16 to 18 hours is a really long time to be in a car. I made it 900 miles before the combination of pain and road glaze caused me to nearly sideswipe a semi truck. This was the point at which I pulled off at the next lodging sign. I actually only have about 4 hours left to Chicago, but it just was not happening. At least not with me arriving alive and all.
So here I am. I actually have no idea where I am. Last time I was paying attention I was in Iowa? Am I still in Iowa? I don't even know. I think I probably am. Whatever the bed is comfy and I will now face plant and arrive tomorrow instead of tonight.
Despite not being able to push all the way through, I have to say I forgot how much I actually love a road trip. There's something about driving along with the radio cranked up and a destination off in the distance that is quite lovely.
Am too tired to think straight. Will update again when I hit Tara's tomorrow.
