Yay! There was brunch this morning, and then I finally got to see Captain America with [personal profile] celli and [personal profile] slodwick. I approve of this movie. Steve is OMGPRECIOUS!!! Wait, I think I need more capslock or exclamation points or possibly I can just do this <3 <3 <3 <3 <3. It is difficult to do earnest in a genuine way that doesn't come off as smug or deserving a punch in the face (Clark Kent I am looking at you), but Steve pulls it off. I wish to squish and cuddle him.

So yes, good day.

He really is very adorable, isn't he? Not at all smug, and very likeable. :)

Yes, I was most impressed with the actor, because pulling off Steve's completely earnest Lawful Good without looking smug or dumb is not an easy task.

I was terribly amused that they implied that Steve was a virgin, as well. It's not often that a movie will go there with an adult male character.

I have long suspected that Chris Evans's secret power is that he is not just a pretty face but can actually act. I don't think there are very many actors who could have pulled it off nearly as well.

I've never read that many comics with Cap in them, but there's one scene I remember that you'll appreciate: in the "Maximum Carnage" storyline Carnage and his buddies have been killing their way across New York and repeatedly beating Spidey and his allies to a pulp, and Spidey is lying on the ground as beat down and out of hope as he's ever been, and then he looks up and there is Cap offering his hand. It can still not just make the air on my arm stand up but cause me to make a little choking noise too.
