Morning! My good mood continues as I settle in. Still not sure when internet and tv will be hooked up but I have my Wii and DVD player hooked up now to play and watch shit, and though it is a mild pain in the ass to have to walk up to the main house porch to use internet it's liveable for now. The excitement of finally having my own space that is mine after a year of living in limbo is taking over and mostly I'm wandering around going, "My house, my house, MY HOUSE"

Hot water for shower problem is, in fact, some kinda regulator installed to keep tiny children from scalding themselves. I guess they have to put them on to pass inspection or whatever. The plumbing/heating guy is coming out today for final stuffs though, so I am told I can have him take it off and return to my not safe for babies level of hot shower. \o/

The heating issue turned out to be my own impatience. See, the way radiant heating works is that they run a hose/tube thingie that winds through the concrete foundation. Water (though I don't think it's regular water) runs on a continuous recycled loop through that tubing to the heater thingie and then back through the tubes, and all this warms up the concrete. Heat radiates (hence the name) up through the floor making things toasty. This is all awesome, however if you've never run it before what you have is a very cold, very large slab of concrete that ends up chilling the water as it runs through and warms verrrrrrrrrrrrry slowly by increments. The solution was simply to set the heat all the way up and just let it run until it was all warmed up and then turn it down to normal. By the middle of the night last night my floor tiles were cozy y'all, and I fell in love, as I was promised. It really does keep everything nicely warm...but more than that, the heat is evenly distributed through the whole house, and getting out of bed and putting your feet down on a toasty warm floor is just...nice. Really nice. \o/

I also got my kitchen unpacked. So, slowly but surely it's turning into a home. I just needed to chill the fuck out and enjoy it.

It's not like we actually own property anyway. (: But I will admire it from afar!

I'd give my eye teeth for a heated floor like yours. Srsly. I swear, my place is built atop a piece of glacier/giant anthill. D:

It's a miracle so many generations of humans reached adulthood without all those nuveau nanny gadgets. *eyeroll*

YAY HOUSE!!!!

Your floors remind me of that delicious feeling in winter of running down to the basement to put on hot underwear fresh from the drier. I miss snow.

And, hey, even if your internet is never very fast, IRC is super oldschool, and will run on anything. :D :D :D
