What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Okay, yesterday. I finish my ridiculous adventure game, and I'm feeling pretty good about it because there is a sequel also available through Amazon's game downloads so I reckon I will get it after I get back from picking up a few groceries at the small store. And just, thank goodness I didn't decide to go all the way into town for a major shopping trip, which is on my list of shit to do this week. Because...when I get to the checkout line my debit card is declined. THIS IS WEIRD, because I know for a fact I have more than enough money to cover it in my account. It gets weirder when I think it's a glitch and try and take money out of the ATM in the store to pay in cash instead and get back 'unauthorized usage'. So I call the bank from the store and it turns out that yesterday someone tried to make a 200 dollar purchase on my card. IN FLORIDA.

It turns out this has been happening a lot around here. There is some kind of security breach/scam going on in town that they haven't identified yet that is stealing people's card numbers, and, like...three people in the store were like 'oh yeah, that happened to me too' when I was explaining to the cashier what had happened. I am glad the bank went 'wtf, that ain't right' and immediately shut down my card instead of me being out 200 bucks. It just would have been nice if they'd, I dunno, notified me before I discovered it while trying to get food.

So anyway, they are sending me a new card, but now I can't access any of my money unless I drive into town and go to the bank in person.

Fuck.

A similar thing happened to me, only my info was stolen when the bank was hacked, not by someone local cloning my card, or whatever's happening in your town. And, like you, I only found out when I couldn't access my money, not because the bank notified me, which made it so much worse. Fuckers.

I hope the cops track down the shithead(s) responsible.
