HI! I know I haven't been around much lately, I have thoughts on why fannish space is something I've come to start avoiding but that would probably be wanky as fuck. I really should check my email more often, though, because some AMAZING peoples got me dreamwidth points/paid time and I just *now* found it in my inbox and OMG, I LOVE YOU ANONYMOUS PEOPLE. *HUGS*

So, lets talk about something AWESOME. Festivids go live is in *less than a week* you guys. And I'm so excited I might just pee my pants. Thankfully this is the internet so you can just chuckle at my virtual pants peeing instead of having to deal with it for real. I'm considerate like that. Festivids is pretty much everything I love about fandom...responding to beloved texts with a collective creative experience that makes people happy. And in four days it will all bust forth in an avalanch of VIDS. I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED IF I TRIED.

I am excited for my recipient(s) to get the vid(s) I made! I am excited to see what someone made for me (made for *me*, OMG)! I am excited to see all the directions vidders went, and what vids for fandoms I never thought I needed a vid for but now that one exists, how could I have not, because AWESOME! that always comes out of other people's requests.

FESTIVIDS. I AM SO EXCITED. I haven't even had a chance to get excited about the vid I will be receiving because I am SO EXCITED about ALL THE VIDS and what my recipient will think and FESTIVIDS FESTIVIDS FESTIVIDS.

I KNOW, OMG. I actually keep forgetting that I'm *getting* a vid too, and then I remember and start flailing even harder. Which, considering the intensity of the flailing to begin with poses a danger to all small children and pets in the vicinity.

Yeah, you're probably right. It's sometimes hard to focus on the squee when there seems to be so little of it....

But then just means doing it harder :)

I don't know about you guys, but it feels to me like there's just a general fannish malaise that sets in now and then. Every time I wander by Tumblr or some new fandom everyone's newly excited about, I see tons of squee.

AN AVALANCHE OF VIDS. Especially when you consider the numbers the mods posted on More Joy day were before what I am certain is the last wave of treats to roll in.

IMMA WATCH VIDS UNTIL MY EYES FALL OUT OF MY HEAD. And then I'm gonna pick my eyes up off the floor, dust them off, put them back in and WATCH MORE.

The thing about keeping stuff that's bothering us bottled up is that we tend to think we're totally alone in how we feel, and we're usually not. You can always lock it down to prevent wank.

Just so you know, there are times the only reason I stay involved in fandom is my RL friends. There've been plenty of times I've been thisclose to gafiating; as it is, my sense of self-preservation dictates I keep things pretty close to the vest.

I don't think I'll ever gafiate...mostly 'cause I like making vids too much. I dunno, I may post at some point in the future about what's going on in my head...but I may not. Ironically, in a way posting about it would be contributing to the same things that are pushing me away, heh.

You know, just the other day I was thinking about Festivids and as usual I was excited to think about all the great vids I'd get to watch, and wondering about how my recipients would like the vids I made for them...and then I remembered that someone made a vid for me! That I would get a present, a vid made for me of my very own!

Like, I'd totally forgotten about that part.
