Surgery finally scheduled. For July 3d. So I guess I'll be celebrating Independence From My Thyroid day when they spring me on the 4th? Also, the whole neck wound thing will still be fresh and thus look super cool for Vividcon or something. I am considering going to Club Vivid as Wesley from Angel.

Is mildly comforting that it's like 'eh, July is fine' on the evidence scale of even if they pull out fishy cells it's not dead scary like that time they were like 'oh, shit breasts off NOW' I recognize that in the grand scheme of things this is not actually that big of a deal, and that the vast majority of my angst is due to previous medical trauma, and a related hypersensitive flinchy reaction to the C word (which still may end up not even applying in this situation).

Well, except for the actual surgery thing. I'm gonna call that part legit suckass. Overnight hospital stay, OH JOY. I sincerely cannot sleep in hospitals even when I'm not in pain, so I hope they at least have wi-fi. Also, I will probably rewatch a lot of Haven. I think Greatest Hits of Nathan's FEELINGS is appropriate to a hospital stay, yes? I mean, sheesh, I think I have problems. This will provide much needed perspective, and also Nathan's face.

Big hugs. I totally get the whole referred trauma thing. I dropped my sister at Auckland airport last week and took Griffin to the viewing deck to look at the planes, and the corridor to get there was so reminiscent of the one at Auckland hospital that gets you from the parking building to oncology, it brought back a rush of unwelcome stuff. So I can only imagine the sort of icky feelings this brings up for you :o(

For sure, it sucks that you have to have it done, but I think it's a very good sign that they weren't as urgent about the surgery date this time.

I think Katee Sackhoff had her thyroid removed at some ridiculously young age, like 27, so you could always cosplay Starbuck in her honor, too.

If it's July 3rd, I am totally available to hang around. I can't stay overnight . . . I teach early in the mornings (7:30 am) in the summer. Otherwise I would and I would keep you company. Overnights in the hospital SUUUUUUUCK.
