Home! I ended up sleeping through most of my time in the hospital. Which was surprising, but not unwelcome since it left me very little time to freak out about being in the hospital, though I did not get Nathan's face.
Am still kind of beat, and about to take a nap (at HOOOOME), but I gotta say that if you absolutely have to have surgery, I recommend thyroid. Pain level is fairly minimal, and since it's all in the neck I can still move around and whatnot. Easiest surgery I've ever had.
So, yes. Talked to my surgeon this morning and while we have to wait for the full pathology, he is really confident based on initial results that there ain't no cancer to deal with. \o/ \o/ \o/. They did end up taking out the whole thyroid, because as the ultrasound suggested it was a godawful mess in there and he says it's a good thing it's gone regardless. Started on thyroid replacement meds this morning, which I will have to take for the rest of my life, but I'm not fussed about that. I'm also supposed to take lots of vitamin D and calcium.
Basically, this has been about the most uneventful and boring of all my medical issues in years, and it's pretty much over now aside from getting meds right and followup.
So I'm just gonna go sleep some more now and breathe out in relief.
