I am once again completely behind on DW and LJ. Family visits are coming on the heels of me going to Zens for her birthday, so I'm all over the place. Seeing people I love is always a good thing, but disrupting my schedule always throws me for a loop. So, stuff.
Festiviiiiiiids. I have not yet got back to mine. Vidding has been such a struggle this year and I miss it. However, I am 99 percent certain my main assignment will get done and submitted for the deadline. Unless the vidblock breaks it is doubtful that treats are in the cards this year, which gives me a sad, but I'm still looking forward to seeing alllllll the vids.
HAVEN. Not spoilery, just...I love this show. And it has been renewed! <3 <3 <3 <3
I thiiiiink I am just about ready to finally watch the latest season of Doctor Who. Right now the plan is that as soon as family departs this week, I will sit down and mainline it.
Once Upon a Time remains one of my favorite things currently airing on the television, but oddly something I've avoided being openly fannish about. It just gives me such a happy that I don't think I could be rational about critiques or people being Wrong On The Internet According To Me about it (both features of fandom in general, hand in hand with squeeful joy). Basically, there are women, women, everywhere on my tv once a week as the central characters and driving plotlines in a genre that includes MAGIC and SWORDFIGHTING and stuff. And it pleases me deep in my soul.
Elections. This was my first time in my life voting in a swing state (everywhere else I've lived has either been solid blue or solid red). It was..more nerve wracking than I expected, and also the area of Colorado I live in is...well, let us just say that Focus on the Family is, like, down the road and leave it at that. But damn it was kind of euphoric in a new way when we went BLUE as the returns came in (also, we legalized recreational pot...which if you've ever been to Colorado should not come as a surprise. Everyone here, across all political lines looooooves their marijuana, it is a thing.). And solidified my wish that presidential elections were popular vote and not electoral vote. I have always loved voting, but it's been a symbolic act that I haven't really felt made any kind of difference, living where I have. Feeling like your vote actually matters is a new experience and one I wish we all had. I could really do without the deluge of political ads every freaking five seconds on the tv, though.
So that's me. What are y'all up to?

Also, guess what I'm going to do? I'm gonna learn how to MAKE VEGETABLES. My stepmother is actually out looking at greenhouses today to be built on the property at some point in the next year. She wants a dome one? I guess they are supposed to be awesome in some way that I don't understand. I'm slightly nervous about being involved, because I've never actually grown anything in my life...but I am also sort of excited at the idea of, like, slicing up a tomato to put on a sammich and thinking I MADE THAT. :)
