So, my newest nephew arrived last night and we went down to coo at the baby today. This was also the first time the elder nephew of that set got to see his little brother. He is three. And so very unimpressed. They did not know the gender of the baby until it arrived, and eldest nephew had decided it should be a girl some time back...hence prompting the following.
Elder nephew looks at baby. Looks at mom. Looks at baby.
"Why is it a boy?"
And upon being told thats just the way he showed up, elder nephew cocked his head, furrowed his brow, and in the most offended tone you can imagine from a three year old proclaimed
"But, I didn't *want* a boy."
And then proceeded to give us all a look that essentially demanded someone go exchange this squirming lump of boychild for the baby sister he so clearly requested.
I predict when the baby comes home and is still a boy he will attempt to exchange it for a proper baby sister on his own.
I am still cracking up.
