Huh, so they finally figured out a way to make me care about Owen. Kill him. I find it difficulty to carry a grudge against a dead man, even one that's walking and talking...perhaps especially one that's walking and talking, since what the hell do you do with that is just inherently interesting. And there it is. I still don't like Owen. I don't think I ever will. But I'm ready to find him interesting, which bumps him up my list even further than the tolerating him I'd been achieving this season.
Okay, but I have a question. The problem with reviving someone who has been dead for awhile is the brain, right? And Owen's brain seems to be chugging along just fine. So...why exactly can't they surgically fix his wounds while he's still dead, pump him full of a blood transfusion or two, and then shock his heart back into action or whatever the hell it is doctors do to kick start things? They could at least try. Or is this one of those things I'm not supposed to think about?
Jack? Jack?!?!? What the hell were you thinking? I know you love your team (sometimes naked), and them dying is almost unthinkable to you. I get it. I even want to pet you and feed you cookies for it. But resurrection is never a good idea. Ever. Did you not watch Buffy? He came back wrong pumpkin, and it's your fault. You are making me type a sentence I never thought I'd type. Owen should have punched you harder. The rest of your team should have wrestled that glove away from you and locked you up with the Weevils until you came to your senses. And yet, I still want to hug you for wanting it so badly. Perhaps you should have another little chat with the Doctor? This time about how humans are fragile beings that die a lot, and how loving them includes watching that, fast or slow, and this is Your Curse To Bear. Oh, Jack.
Needs more Martha. Yes, she was awesome (as always), and I adore seeing her even in a minor capacity and I flipped the fuck out with the near death thing. But...more please. MORE. Because she is Martha and seeing her on my screen will never not make me ridiculously happy. How much do I love that she was the one facing down Jack on the subject of Owen maybe not being human anymore? I love it a lot. That's our Martha, never afraid to face down the hard truth or to speak it right out loud when no one else wants to. Made. Of. Awesome. Yes.
Oh, Tosh. Tosh. Let's just get this out of the way now. Dating dead men, never a good idea. Sit down with Jack and watch Buffy if you need a list of reasons why. Please continue to be awesome with your technical gadgetry and plans that include corpses driving cars (but not on dates, okay?) and find a nice, living, normal man or woman (not frozen!) if you must find a partner. We will all be happier for it. Trust me on this one.
Ianto! How adorable are you? Thiiiiiiiis adorable. Emo face for dead Owen! Memorizing the access code! Hacking into communications networks before Jack even asks! Research on the fly! And I squish you and huggle you to a thousand tiny pieces for the startled jump and beginnings of a girly scream (a very manly girly scream, shhh sweetpea) turning into a laugh when Martha revived. I do so love you. A lot.
All in all? A very satisfying episode. Torchwood continues it's streak of pleasing me muchly this season. YAY!
