So, the other thing that came out of yesterday...you all remember where I was like 'Oh shucks, I tried to quit with a nicotine patch and it didn't work so I'm going to ease back and change habits and whatnot sloooowly'

Yeah. Not an option. Continuing to smoke leading up to the surgery carries all sorts of risks for nasty complications due to vascular restriction. I have to quit now (I should have quit two months ago for maximum surgical benefit). And not only that, I am actually not supposed to use a patch or the gum either, since nicotine in any form is bad in this context. I have one cigarette left in this pack and then it's cold turkey hell. This is not going to be fun, on levels of 'not fun' that are even worse than the not fun that includes a patch to manage physical withdrawal.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do it, since the picture painted to me by my surgeon of putrefying flesh and bits I don't want falling off, falling off was sincerely GROSS enough to provide full body shudders when contemplated. But ugh. I already know my physical withdrawals are bad, bad, BAD...it's one of the reasons I've never even contemplated cold turkey. But here I go.
