Just watched Merlin...and YAY!!!!
An episode in which everyone loves Gwen this much can only be called AWESOME. I find it comforting and right that the entire Merlin universe recognizes Gwen is better than all of them put together. Well, except Uther...but he probably hates puppies and kittens too, it's just who he is, and he makes up for it feeding my dirtybadwrong love of Uther/Morgana (THANK YOU SHOW).
Anyway, yeah. I swear this show is like OTP kryptonite. I suppose you could try to not multi-ship but wow, that would be difficult and suck a lot. I must admit I find myself a bit put off by Gwen/Lancelot at the moment, even though I found it absolutely lovely through most of the episode. Gwen's sweetness and sense of justice combined with Lancelot's dreamer's eye view of heroics and the world make me go AWWWWWW a lot, it really does. But, and it is a BIG but...
Taking off like that at the end was a dick move, and the motivations behind it even dickier (is that a word?). Hi, does Gwen get a say here? She's not property, and you can't just hand her off to Arthur, like somehow his feelings trump hers. Dear Lancelot, you were not standing in the way of Arthur/Gwen...what GWEN thinks and feels was standing in the way. Girls are people, not gifts, just sayin'. I sort of love Arthur a lot that at least he seemed to recognize that, giving way even though it was painful to him (d'awwwwwww...*cuddles Arthur*).
The real winner here is clearly Gwen/Morgana, which is not only hawt, but involves escape plans and swordfighting, and strong bonds of friendship which defy social standing, and Morgana standing up to Uther and taking Arthur to task, and then there were HUGS. Who needs boys?
Well, boys need boys, as is evident by the adorably snarky Merlin/Arthur which just never fails to please and ends with things like "At least you still have me" because CANON LOVES THE SLASHERS.
*makes happy sounds and draws pink sparkly hearts all over show*
