Doctor Who 5x03

I am not overwhelmed with squee like I have been, but that was entertaining enough for a Saturday afternoon, and I remain so desperately in love with Eleven and Amy they could pretty much read the phone book to me and I'd start making high pitched squeaky noises only dogs can hear. It's actually good to have some breathing space so I don't, y'know, explode.

I'm looking forward to seeing what I can pull out in a vid this time if only because seriously, if I can't do anything with candy colored Daleks and a space battle I need to hang up my vidder hat forever. I can see this being kind of a blast to do.

I am really excited about next week, though. I have done an episodic Weeping Angels vid before so I know that they are a metric fuckton of fun to vid. \o/



Song suggestions for this week's episode are most welcome. Even when I don't use them, having the widest variety of choices helps, as does seeing what other people hear (heh, did that make sense?). Not sure where I'm going tone wise here, either, so everything is up for grabs.

ETA: Song found. And all I'm going to say about it for now is BLAME sweetestdrain. What is about to happen is all her fault. Would still like to hear what you'd choose, 'cause it's interesting.

People are handwringing that Amy is allegedly unrequitedly in love with Eleven, based on that "when you fancy someone" scene? Any sign of that or is it just handwringing? (I haven't watched it yet.)

What? No. I didn't get that at all. If it was RTD I'd be more worried. But the look Amy flashes Eleven isn't angsty or woeful or longing at all. It's...mischevious, actually. And the look he gives her back is adorable. I took it as UST of the 'We're not going there for oh so many reasons, but I have thought about it. You too?'

There is no melodrama, and it is pretty much just sitting there to take as shippy as you want, or leave behind as you please. They might do something with that, I dunno, but as of now I don't have red flags up at all.

In other words, Moffat gave us genuine subtext of the old-fashioned kind and fandom has completely forgotten how to work with that sort of thing--THANK YOU THIS IS JUST WHAT I SURMISED. I absolutely love USTy subtext of the "We can't go there, but hot damn have I thought about it" kind, so good. :-D

I really and truly didn't get anything other than subtext of the sort that's fun to play with fannishly out of it. I may have let my guard down too soon, but I really don't think so.
