fan_eunice: (vidding is HARD)

The recutting has begun, and wow, let this be a lesson to you all. NEVER, EVER delete your project files and clips, even if you think you'll never finish. Burn it all off safely to a disc somewhere because otherwise you risk having to find all the clips you used and figure out how you cut them and what you might have done to them in the first place and that is tedious as hell. Especially if you have most of a timeline filled in.

You know what helps? Rose's hair. It, like, bounces in unique ways and it does it a *lot*. I've just started and I've already matched the exact frame of several clips based on the position of various strands of her hair as it goes *bounce, bounce, bounce* through a scene.

Anyway, yes, do not be stupid like me. Keep your unfinished projects in a nice safe place. If you never really do go back, then you've only lost a disc or two. And if you ever do dust it off your life will be so much easier.

So, right after I post the last entry? FCP crashes so hard my whole computer throws up it's hands and runs off to hide under a rock. Okay, fine. This is why autosave was invented. Except for the part where it then refused to reopen the project. I glare. Seriously, not five minutes after that my cable and internets go down completely. I glare harder. I call Comcast only to discover that, um, whoops, I have once again forgotten to pay my bill. Do that. Have to call back because internet doesn't come back on until I do the unplug/restart dance/send a pulse dance several times with Comcast. FINE. FCP is now opening my project but taking over five minutes to do so, and randomly quitting (taking, again, another five minutes to open every time). I get it, the universe hates me today. Check bank account to make sure cable payment is going to go through okay. Remember that cable is not the only bill I've managed to forget about. Slap forehead and realize extra money I've been spending is not extra, it was supposed to go to bills. Most of which now have late fees and past due amounts that are a bit scary. Idiot. Have to transfer chunk out of savings to cover everything. Irresponsible spending now affecting actual plans for savings. Can't even really distract self with vidding on account of the slow/crash problem.

Why am I allowed to be an adult again? I sort of fail at it.

FCP clearly hates me. The crashing continues, to the point where I find two clips, crash, sit around and wait for it to reopen, rinse, lather, repeat. I think this is my copy of FCP deciding it really, really, really, hates working with m2v. This is the first vid where I've tried to do that instead of converting to DV (which I hate with a passion strong enough that I'm still not ready to go back to it after this day of woe). I think the issue may be attempting to dump whole episodes in the bin. If I do this again, I'm going to demux to smaller chunks and see if that helps. I got enough rebuilt before this whole thing started that I'm loathe to start over, but I may have to. Stupid hobby.

[livejournal.com profile] luna_k has tagged me to post a screengrab of my desktop, and so I do.

It is boring as boring gets on account of I just yesterday cleaned everything up (which as you can see means shoving everything in the helpful "stuff" and "more stuff" folders, it is the computer equivalent of shoving everything under the bed). On a normal day the whole thing would be littered with crap for you to point and laugh at. As it stands there's not much to see but my Martha and Ten. The picture rotates, but that was what was up when I grabbed (yay!)

I'm supposed to tag people, but that involves too much decision making so I tag anyone who wants to. Show me your desktop!
