I was going to start my new project today, but Amazon hates me and despite paying a billion dollars extra for the super fast delivery, my books have not yet arrived. Books on Apple Color and Motion. Which I plan on learning. And you all have helped by indulging my random numbers thingie.
You see, I have a plan. I want to do a bunch of book lessons and tutorials and whatnot, and I want to use vid type source, and pair it with music so when I do get back to actual vidding what I've learned can cross over. I needed it to be completely random and removed from context, because I don't want to get caught up in trying to actually vid in the sense of creating a narrative or point, but rather have a narrow focus on the technical and visual aspects of making things go zoom and swish and sparkle and such.
Enter the whacked out system I devised to do this, and your random numbers selected for me: a movie or tv show, a season and episode if applicable, and a song off the Guitar Hero World Tour playlist (if I tried to explain all the rules that cover shows with more or less seasons and/or episodes in a season...or the source on my DVD shelf vs. what I've got on the computer it would give you a headache, so just trust that it works). I suspect some of the resulting combinations will be hilariously awful, and very few of them to even hint at making sense. Which is the point. Small, thirty second projects in which to make a big sparkly mess.
I have doubts this will translate very much to vids in the future, I am rather addicted to my razor cuts, and I really don't have the eye or talent of a graphic artist...but what I don't want is to be wondering if I'm not using other stuff because I don't know how, or if I'd have other ideas to work with if I knew what all the shiny toys did.
I may not have the mental ability to pull together a coherent narrative right now, but who says I can't make that work for me. There's gonna be at least one actual pink sparkly heart. Oh yes, there will be. If my books ever GET HERE.
