Are you excited about [livejournal.com profile] festivids going live in ONE DAY? No? Couldn't care less? Are getting ready to sigh and scroll past this entry in total disinterest? Then this post is for you my friend. Because this is my attempt to convince you why you should be excited about tomorrow. I'm not even being sekritly judemental of you for not loving this thing I love. Much.

Festivids is a rare opportunity to do something we almost never get to do outside Vividcon. Collectively watch a wide variety of vids in one place at one time, many of which are in fandoms not our own. And if you've never experienced doing this, lemme tell you, IT IS AWESOME and you don't want to miss out.

But, Eunice, they are not my fandoms...why should I care and why should I watch? I can hear you asking it. Lucky for you I'm going to answer. Many reasons, let's list, shall we?

1. New music. I can't tell you the number of bands/artists/songs I've discovered through vid watching. Yes, some of it is the same old same old, or stuff you dislike. But vidders also often try to use music that's a bit off the beaten path or not entirely obvious to avoid having the 18th million vid to Top 40 hit of the day. This means you have a built in playlist for the day of songs and music you might not otherwise have been exposed to. Awesome? HELL YEAH.

2. New shows/movies to watch. Vids are excellent recruiting and pimping tools. You didn't know that show/movie you've only vaguely heard of has this character that hits every single one of your buttons and is played by one of your favorite actors? I've got a vid for that. Look, it takes place in space! It's a western! Espionage! All these people are stupidly pretty! That guy has ANGST omg! Holy crap, that chick kicks ass! Awwwww, team! If you have never sat with your jaw on the floor after a vid going 'what is that show and why haven't I seen it, because clearly it was made JUST FOR ME' trust me, it's AWESOME.

3. If [livejournal.com profile] strangefandom has taught us nothing else it is that you also do not have to know or be particularly interested in the fandom to still have one hell of a good time watching vids in fandoms not your own. See, when you don't have the first clue what's going on? You get to make it up yourself, and it can be anything you want. It's like that game of people watching where you make up conversations and backstories for random people on the street while waiting for the bus. Except with a SOUNDTRACK (see #1). Awesome? YOU BETCHA.

4. The collective part of [livejournal.com profile] festivids. You ARE NOT ALONE. And you're not watching a few here and there drawn out over weeks. All the vids will be RIGHT THERE in one place on the same day. And the more people who participate in watching, reccing, and commenting the more people you have to discuss with. Did you see this one? How about that one? OMG, that vid was amazing! I...have no clue what just happened there, did his uncle just turn into a goat or did I imagine that? Hey, you know that fandom? Tell me more of this character who has intrigued me! Anyone got more of that band, I wanna put it on my iPod.

In conclusion. JOIN US. Take a walk on the wild side. I believe all the vids will be streaming, so you don't even have to make a download investment. Just...browse the community, hit play a bunch of times, and enter a whole new world. We have snacks. And sometimes the Earth blows up.

YOU GUYS! OMG. I do actually get to be around for More Joy/Festivids. After some confusion, wrangling, etc. with the drive plans...and I was kinda bummed that I'd be missing kiddos actual 18th birthday by visiting early...but anyway...long story. End result is I will fly up instead in the beginning of February for birthday.

So, get to be there on OMFGEIGHTEEN birthday? Yup.

Get to be here for MJ/Festivids? Yup.

THIS IS MY HAPPY EUNICE FACE.

(I think I like 2010)
