I hate insomnia. No sleep last night. Again. Going to force myself to stay awake in the hopes of actually falling asleep tonight. Pre-VVC nerves are setting in on top of everything else which is not helping.

And Zod is NOT COOPERATING. Baby, you're supposed to be evil with me, not against me. Maybe I just forgot how to vid? It is weird that this year has sparked my most productive vidding run and yet I do not have a premiere at VVC. And in this lead up to the con when I'm usually all VIDS, VIDS, LET US TALK ABOUT VIDS AND PROCESS...I am just staring at my current timeline in despair trying to remember how you do this 'structure' thing the kids are always on about.

Argh. I need distraction. Tell me something about vids. As a vidder or as a vid watcher, either one. I know! Everyone is doing that vid meme thing right now and it makes me curious, what is it in general that puts a vid in your 'keep' folder? Or, actually, narrowing that...lets exclude vids you didn't care for/didn't like from this. I am thinking more what is the distinction between vids you watched and enjoyed once or twice and the ones you keep?

Bonus question if you are a vidder, what would your 'keep' folder look like if you applied it to your own vids as if you were watching them and not the person who made them? How well does what you like to make match up to what you what you want to see when you go looking for vids outside your own head I guess is what I'm asking. Though I might not be making any sense here on account of the lack of sleep.

For me, there are three categories of keeper vids:

1. Good, but I have nothing to say, so it's not recommendable. These vids go into their fandom folder, and I may watch them again in a few years, but that's it.

2. I definitely have something to say! So it goes on the rec list and into the rec folder, and I will watch it a bunch more times, waiting for the thing I have to say to settle in my head. (This is why it takes me so long to rec things. Settling takes time. Otherwise sentences do not happen.)

3. Wonnnnnnnderful, and yet I have nothing to say, but maybe I can force it. These are vids I look at, and I just know they are SO AWESOME, and yet there is nothing in my head to say about them. These vids go on a different place on the rec list, and into the rec folder, and I will watch them a bunch more times hoping that something to say will appear in my head. And also because, you know, they're wonderful, so rewatching is not a hardship.
