I have thoughts! On OT3s! Inspired by Once a Thief, obviously. But, for reals. Okay, so usually I OT3 for a variety of reasons...mostly because I'm indecisive and ship everything and I'm drawn to the OT3 type dynamic anyway. But really, in canon it doesn't so much apply a lot of the time.
But, but! Sometimes it would make the most sense in show too. And I really wish tv was allowed to actually go there and not just dance around and/or imply it, ya know? Like in OaT it really does make the most sense. Li Ann clearly loves both Mac and Vic. And whether or not you read Mac and Vic as slashy (and I'm not sure how you couldn't) they've demonstrated over and over that they can work together, even with the sniping and snarking, in the threesome dynamic easily.
So why not go there? Seriously...why not? I can't think of a single reason not to. And more than that, a lot of reasons why not doing so risks the show dynamics entirely, which only one season (WOE) avoided. And while I really enjoy the way they did handle it for other reasons, Li Ann opting out of choosing and being comfortable saying 'you are both fucking ridiculous' is AWESOME, it really is...I dunno, it did kinda make me wistful that we're not really allowed to have explicitly non-traditional relationship structures even when they make the most sense for everyone involved.

The basic set up, and I'm trying to figure out how to do this with a minimum amount of pilot spoilers, Mac and Li Ann were street kids in Hong Kong adopted into a mob family and raised as thieves. For various spoilery reasons they end up out of the mob family and working for a shadowy government agency in Canada partnered with ex-cop Vic. Together, THEY FIGHT CRIME.
And 'cause it is John Woo, there are ridiculous plot set ups with over the top action sequences. It is an unbelievable amount of fun, I can't even tell you.
