Day six, living with hives. Apparently, I am a mutant. Steroid and antihistamine treatment did not make the hives go away. They have, in fact, taken to staking out various body parts, throwing a big party, and then shifting around when they run out of beer or something. At best they exist at a dull roar of reddish patches that barely itch until it's party time again. I think I might go insane (er, more insane) if the itching doesn't stop. A doctor's visit today was spectacularly unhelpful, unless your doctor blinking at you and explaining that they've got nothing else on account of steroids and antihistamines is pretty much the only treatment is something you consider helpful.

So...another week of steroid treatment, and a followup to have a different doctor poke at me on Monday, and yet another appointment later in February with a dermatologist. And also since there is sometimes a link between autoimmune thyroid disorders and hives, it is possible that I am not having any allergic reaction at all, but another fun side effect of my thyroid eating itself alive. Let's add finding an endocrinologist to follow up on the process of diagnosis and treatment for that, which I had to stop before because of lack of insurance, to the list. Essentially, if this does not spontaneously clear up on it's own relatively soon, then it's probably going to be a joyous several months of the doctor merry go round, spending more money than I care to even think about, while I try not to scratch all my skin off. I am not in a good mood.

Send pity. And glitter pens. Do persistent hives merit glitter pens? *looks pitiful*
