I have decided I wasn't actually kidding that I sort of want to do all my episode reviews in vid form. What I need now to attempt it is a song for Beast Below. I'm on the hunt, but I figured I'd open it up for suggestions in case anyone's got stuff on their iPod that might work. Can't promise I'll use your song, but if you want it in consideration for The Beast Below, please suggest.

We shall see if I can even pull it off this week, much less keep it going for the season, but I'm having fun...so what the hell. I am much more comfortable expressing myself in vid form than I am anything else so I really do want to try it.

I don't even have an iPod. So I'm really just talking to myself here. I just love making soundtracks in my head, even if I'll never ever have the skills to vid any of it.

BUT

I'm not sure exactly what song would fit, but I think it needs one of those that changes very distinctly somewhere along the way. Because, wauw! I still don't even know how they're making it work after all the angstiness of past seasons, but it sure works. You know what moment I'm talking about.

So... What springs to my mind, though I'm not sure it's quite right, is something like old Rocket Queen by Guns n Roses. And I don't have that as a file in any shape or form. Sorry. But I do hope you will continue your vidding reviews!

ETA: LOL Just listened to it again - guess I'd forgotten just how much sex there is in that one. And the story behind it. That was not what I was aiming for. Just the shift from harsh to soft.

ETA2: And now I just re-watched the episode, and realized how much Amy reminds me of Buffy... Oh this is getting better and better. It must be a conspiracy.

Octopus by Jonathan Coulton (lyrics).

No, wait, hear me out.

I still remember the words you said
They were hard enough to leave a mark
And now they echo inside my head
As I spiral down into the dark

(POV could be the Star Whale or the FutureBrits, or both. Spiraling down into the dark on a big metal city in spaaaace. Parallels with how the Star Whale is the Doctor and the Children are Amy.)

The sinking feeling that my worst mistake
Was all the time I spent with you

(Liz X's guilt.)

You said you're sorry, you said you'd try
But you never did, I guess we're done

("When we're done here, you're going home.")

Plus the tone of the song totally makes me think of some of the visuals in the episode. And it's short! Under 3 minutes. Only problem is it doesn't have a terribly hopeful ending...

Doo de doo. :)

WASN'T IT CAPSLOCKY AWESOME???

I'm paraphrasing, but the bit where Amy said, "All that pain, all that sadness, and it just made it kind." I heard a couple of fans say that was overwrought, but honestly I don't think I can hear those sentiments enough. Bring on the kindness!
