I have officially given up on my CVV vid. For reasons which are almost certainly entirely in my head I could not get around the knots I was tying myself up into over it. I have a bunch of vids in the line that I'm similarly getting nowhere with. The vid I'm actually making progress on and that is not causing me to hate myself? The season 5 Eleventy vid I started two days ago just because. So that's what I'm working on.
At this point I'm not sure what I'll do for Premieres, since the Buffy vid (though I really want to make it at some point) is in the pile of vids that are making me feel bad about myself. I don't want another year of not having anything at Vividcon, so I will come up with something. But I think it is going to be whatever organically appears in the timeline finished in time, and not what I have 'decided' to do.
My best vidding experiences almost always come from randomly opening a timeline when I think 'omgosh, I really wanna do this' and have little to nothing to do with outside pressures or expectations. I keep forgetting that. I need more fannish creativity along the lines of randomly catching an episode of Little House on the Prairie and being caught up in the notion that barely legal true love NEEDS a vid, rather than trying to force things just because I've determined that I should for whatever reason.
Now I'm gonna go spend the rest of today looking at Eleventy's faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace on the timeline. If it turns into a finished vid? Awesome. If it turns into a finished vid before the premiere of the new season renders it irrelevant? Even better. If it does neither of these things? Well, fuck, I got to sit and spend the day looking at the faaaaaaaaaaaaaace, and that is a win.

The downside is seeing you release a new DW vid and not being able to watch it, 'cause I have a thing about watching vids to source I'm currently working with. BUMMER! I've bookmarked it for later, though. :)

Right there with you. I keep having to relearn this, too, even though I've already had the realization many times. I didn't even sign up for Club Vivid this year; I have a vid I want to make for CV eventually, but my head's elsewhere right now. And yet it took me weeks to convince myself to LET my head be elsewhere. IDEK.

Yeah, it's a tricky balance I think because we want to share what we make and have people like it as part of the whole vidding experience, and somehow that gets translated to 'so I should make what people like/expect' or prioritize projects based on shoulds.
I still kinda love the idea for the CVV vid. I still love the idea of having a vid for CVV. I'm not actually feeling it on the timeline though and beating myself up about that when I could just randomly be having fun with Eleventy's FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE is silly.

I feel you on this, though. Right now I have a million projects I feel I "ought" to be doing, but what I really really want to do is write some historical AU where Lord Byron has sex with Sherlock (cuz in some universe, they were perversely made for each other).

The second it becomes more about work than fun it loses the whole point. I say historical AU your heart out :D :D
