You guys rock. I was highly entertained during the day by awesome pictures and conversation. And then the kids took me out to see Rango and then dinner last night, both of which were awesome, and then I came home and watched the American Idol results. Yeah, that was a good birthday. And why not, here, have my thoughts on the AI results
Well that was...not in the least bit surprising or unexpected. I was utterly wtfed by the choice to save Ashton by wild card when it happened, continued not to understand it when she performed again, and pretty much my only reaction to her getting voted out was, 'Of course she did'
Am I missing something here? Because right now my cynical self is thinking she was given the wild card specifically to be cannon fodder so the judges favorites would get an extra week to settle in. Maybe the supposed charisma and stage presence the judges kept banging on about only translates in person and is utterly lost on television? Because basically from where I was sitting she's a cute but otherwise utterly unremarkable young woman with a bit of swagger that has no back up in her voice or performance. Like, I'm sure she's nice and all and I wish her well, but I still have no clue what she was doing there either singing or personality wise.
