Or, not the state of my thyroid. We're not quite sure yet. You see, I finally did get in to see a doctor beyond the initial exam. And the big lump in my neck along with my symptoms were nodded at as "almost certainly thyroid". Okay. Except then my bloodwork came back. Negative. Allrighty then. The going theory became unrelated cyst, and the symptoms being likely related to me being crazy and all. So I go have the ultrasound of the lump. And the results come back today. The lump is a cyst, but not an unrelated one since it involves thyroid tissue. Also, the thyroid itself is enlarged. Also? Multiple nodules where there is no cyst.
Um...this is my perplexed face. The pretty pictures say my thyroid is all kinds of messed up. The bloodwork says it isn't. So I'm off to an endocrinologist for further testing. Whenever I can actually *get* an appointment. I will probably have to have the cyst drained and a needle biopsy of one of the nodules. And one assumes more bloodwork to figure out what in the frilly heck is going on.
Only I could end up with a *confused* thyroid.
